About Minco Plc - Description of the Business
Minco is a London listed (AIM Market: MIO) mining exploration and development company engaged in zinc exploration in Ireland and with investments in base metal and silver projects in Mexico through an investment (29%) in Xtierra Inc. listied on the TSX Venture Exchange in Toronto. The Company's management has an established track record of discovering, developing and operating mines world-wide and this expertise is directed to turning Minco into a production and holding company.
Minco's Strategy
Minco's goal is to become a significant zinc producer mainly through the advancement of its projects in Ireland but also seeking other advanced stage projects in other locations around the world.
Minco's Major Projects
Rathdowney, Ireland
Minco owns 100% interest in Prospecting License 1653 - the Rathdowney License, located approximately 4km to the northeast of the Galmoy mine. The area is of particular interest because of its proximity to the Galmoy Deposit and is located on the Rathdowney Trend, a similar structural trend as at Pallas Green. Previous work by Westland, Lundin and its predecessor Arcon Mines Limited, intersected zinc and lead mineralisation at the Rapla Prospect, located in the southern part of the license.
Tatestown, Ireland
Minco owns 27% interest in Prospecting License 1440R - the Tatestown License, located adjacent to the Navan orebody belonging to Tara-Boliden at Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. Earlier exploration had identified the Tatestown deposit which has an inferred resource of 775,000 tonnes grading 5.42% zinc and 3.83% lead which is separated from the Scanlanstown deposit, owned by Tara-Boliden (888,000 tonnes grading 6.45% zinc and 2.66% lead), by the River Blackwater.
Curraghinalt, Northern Ireland
Minco holds a 2% net smelter royalty on the Curraghinalt gold deposit near Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The deposit has a NI-43-101 inferred resource amountign to 1.5 million ounces gold
Mexican Zinc and Silver Projects
Through its 29% interest in XTIERRA Inc., Minco participates in the exploration and development of advanced projects, including the Bilbao silver-zinc-lead-copper-gold deposit on which Xtierra is completing a feasibility study. Xtierra holds a very extensive exploration portfolio focused on the Central Mexican Mineral Belt within the States of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi.
Minco's Management Team
Minco has an experienced management team, both at the operating level in Mexico as well as performing the headquarter roles expected of listed public company directors. During early 2005 a dedicated Mexican management team was recruited to enable Minco to continue to develop its business there.
